Soaked!

Wednesday 25 April 2012

This just in: our clever, magical heating engineer managed to get our boiler working again so we have hot water and heating for the first time in nearly a week! The very first thing I did was take a long hot shower (which was blissful in case you were wondering) but I am dreaming about having a hot soak in the tub (which doesn’t take over an hour to fill). Any one of these beauties below will do nicely…

Have you been without hot water for long periods of time? How did you cope?

  2. we didn't have hot water for almost two months in our very first flat in London, thank God it was summer. there was something wrong with the gas pipes leading into the flat, so our landlord needed to replace them, ripping open all of the walls. it was a newly converted factory building, so he was fighting with the managing company over who would pay for it, that's why it took so long. at first we stopped paying full rent. eventually we moved out. it was a nightmare.

  3. tell me that fifth one is in an nyc apartment and i will just die. these are all beautiful.

i am SO glad your heat and hot water are back. i have gone a few days without hot water - resulting in quick showers/sponge baths. but i have gone without a heat. blankets upon blankets and rarely moving off the couch or bed are the way i made it through.

  4. Ooooh, that's rough. Glad you're with hot water now. How miserable that must have been! The only time I've ever been without hot water is during the big blackout a few years ago. The good thing was that the day was unbelievably hot, so a cold water bath was welcome.

  5. I've not gone without hot water, but know I would hate it! I love steaming hot showers. Lovely tubs - wish we had one. I don't like our tub so haven't soaked in one in nearly 5 years. Bad part of renting is not being able to replace something like that.

  6. Three cheers for the heating engineer! I haven't been without hot water. But we did go without heating/electricity a few months ago for a few days. Yes- it was pretty miserable.

  7. Twice in the past year we've had to survice a week of no power, no water and no heat and I feel your pain! We finally resorted to a hotel room since two stinky boys were in need of a shower. These tubs were made for soakin'!

  11. I always like the idea of soaking in a nice hot bath, but I usually only last a few minutes before I get too hot (and I don't like warm baths!). But I love a long, hot shower - especially good if you've been for a run, then cooled down and feeling a bit chilly... hop in a hot shower - bliss! xxx

  14. Hurray for having heat and hot water again! Our boiler broke in January and we were without heat for almost a week but at least we had hot water (we have a separate hot water heater).

Love freestanding tubs, a claw foot tub is my dream...
